Margriet Smulders shows of her largely scaled lifestyle until 4th Nov. in the glass elephant
The artist Margriet Smulders, who arrived from the home of the tulips, created the firework-alike three-dimensional flower-wildlife and is just showing it in the glass elephant of the “Maximilianpark Hamm”. As if Photography had existed during the barque her pictures are stunningly beautiful. Everything looks real, tactile and even familiar to some extent.
Well-known substances such as ketchup, pepper-powder or juice provide the flower landscape between all the colorful water, glass, animals or milk the last polish.
The largely scaled photography-lifestyle is multi-colored, dynamic, lush, opulent, feminine, seemingly real and so much more. The artist works with real models and forms landscapes. The creations, which she creates in her atelier, were time-frozen by photography. She works with flowers in radical new king-sized ways. Therein is the uniqueness of her work. Her worlds are artificially oversized, into the surreal moving compositions, who demonstrate not just a single flower but a whole sterile ecosystem. She portrays romantically-flowery models of landscapes and asks visitors: Don´t be afraid of flowers.
Margriet Smulders studied psychology during the 80´s in Nijmegen as well as Art on the royal arts academy in Antwerp. Her creations are to be seen in countless private and public collections. Flowers, plants and fruits symbolize beauty and love just as much as mortality, ambiguity and confusion.
The exhibition is opened daily from 10 am to 6 pm in the glass elephant. The normal ticket prices is applied.
